Rob Moorman: Old Songs, New Stories — A Texas Troubadour’s Journey
From Willie’s Picnic to Outlaw Blues — A Life on the Road
Rob Moorman played music professionally in high school and college. After graduating from SMU, he formed the Silver City Saddle Tramps and moved to Austin in 1974. They quickly found success, even performing at Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic in College Station. The band toured the southern U.S., sharing stages with legends like Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, and George Jones. They even made a movie appearance in Outlaw Blues with Peter Fonda and Susan St. James.
Back Home, Back On Stage
In 1982, Rob left the road and returned to Brenham for a more grounded life. But in 2012, one gig rekindled the fire. Rob Moorman and Company was born soon after, and they’ve been playing regularly ever since across Washington, Austin, and Fayette Counties.
When asked what kind of music they play, Rob said: “Old songs by dead people and some originals. Mainly just songs I like.”
